I grew up in the Bow valley and stayed because the work was here. Parks Canada trail crew, Banff sector, twenty-two seasons. We did not write blogs. We carried lumber. On Sulphur we rebuilt stretches of boardwalk that winter had lifted. Stairs. Bolts. Railings. I can still tell you which flights we did in which year, but I will not, because that is shop talk and you do not need it.

I retired because my knees filed the paperwork before I did. I still live in the area. I still get stopped in lots. This site is the shorter answer. I built it myself on a slow winter, with the same patience I used on a stubborn post: measure twice, do not decorate.

I am not a guide for hire. I do not lead walks. I do not take bookings. If you write, I will answer when I am at a keyboard. If you want a ticket, you want the operator, not a retired trail hand with a P.O. box.
